Well, today is the last lesson of the year! It's been a wonderful summer of swimmers! Even though my lessons are over, summer temps are still around. Next week is supposed to be very nice so hope all you swimmers get out there and continue to use your swimming skills. See you all next summer. Look for my schedule to come out near end of February, first part of March. I'll post the date on this blog. Have a good year. Rosie

Pretty chilly right now - only 57! At least the sun is out and the water is warm. Should be a good day.

Chilly and sunny to start with but should end up being a gorgeous day! Rain at night and sunny morning - couldn't be better for swimming lessons. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Monday

Wow, where has the summer gone! We start my final session of the year today. So far, forecast is for pleasant weather. The last swimmers of the year are Clayton, Rhett, Kaed, Kyan, and Spencer - one new swimmer - Eloise, sister of Henry. Welcome.

Friday

Last day of session 7 and looks like we may have lucked out with the weather. It'll be cool this morning but again the water is warm - and hopefully the rain holds off for a few more hours. This was a great week - watching a swimmer overcoming fear and getting in the water (and enjoying it), a swimmer learning humming actually keeps water out of the nose, and another swimmer making tremendous improvement with the breaststroke. I love how willing all these young swimmers are to keep trying despite swallowing water and feeling exhausted. Thanks kids - this is why I love teaching swimming!

Thursday

Beautiful sunny day for lessons although a little cool to start. Water is again 88 so we'll be fine. We say good-bye to Gabe, Edith and Lucy today as they have previous commitments for tomorrow - all three of you did very well!

Wednesday

Wow, only 57 degrees right now. Good thing - pool is 88! Don't forget the sunscreen again.

Tuesday

The weather certainly has been up and down this summer. We're back to cooler temps and a cool wind predicted for this afternoon. The pool, however, is toasty warm. It'll just be a little chilly getting out so be prepared. Sun is out also so don't forget the sunscreen.

Monday

Start of Session 7 - looks to be a cooler week coming up. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get this afternoon's lessons in - forecast is for possible storms. We have one new swimmer to our program this week - welcome Nathan. Returning swimmers are Sebastian, Boden, Edie, Joey, Spencer, Gabe, Edith, and Lucy - glad to have you back.

Friday

Session 6 comes to an end today. The swimmers have been wonderful - a little stormy, a little rain, and then lots of sun. Looks like today will be a great one - use the sunscreen!

Thursday

Another beautiful day to be in the pool! I posted a couple pictures sent to me by a parent - one is at the very bottom - Henry's favorite game "dunk it".

We got rained on again yesterday but looks like a different story today. Get out the sunscreen - should have sun all day!

Tuesday

Hold on to your suits - looks like we might have a bumpy ride today! Thunder and lightening will put us out of the pool - anything else we can swim through. Barely got through yesterday afternoon before we got another inch of rain. Didn't have a chance to get the furniture covered so parents might want to sit on an extra towel today.

Monday

First day of Session 6 - could be interesting. Depending on which weather report you listen to, we might or might not get some rain this morning. Afternoon is just supposed to be hot. Mostly repeaters this session. Welcome back to Eli, Teagan, Stone, Brady, Charlie, Henry and Jake. Also glad to have newcomers Greta and Gavin.

Another session comes to an end - thanks to all you parents for suffering through the heat - the kids were eager to get in the water. I'm taking a week off for a short road trip with my grandkids - six flags, boating and a zip line. Be back on August 1st.

Looks like we'll have a few more clouds today but storms should stay far south. That's the forecast anyway! Water is 88 so we are good to go.

Another hot one on the deck! At least there is a wind today to help cool things off a bit. Lots of sun screen again!

Wow- heat wave is an understatement! Lots of sunscreen today - the deck is super hot so be sure little ones have something on their feet.

First day of session 5. Forecast promises some very hot temps with a chance of thunderstorms thrown. Let's hope the storms come later in the day. We were in and out of the water all day Friday - just when it looked like things were clearing, in rolled the thunder again. This week we welcome, Kylie and Darcy for their 2nd session, Henry for another session along with his friend Eli, Andrew for his 2nd session and his friend AJ, newcomers Ella and Jackson, Spencer, Colby, newcomers Mike, Anne, Darby, Lucia, and Anna, Lauren and Josh for another lesson, and finally Rachel and Samantha.

Last day of session 4. Yesterday morning was quite wet - both in and out of the pool. Forecast this morning looks pretty good - afternoon could be a different story - stay tuned.

Thursday afternoon

Well we made it through a cold rainy morning - sitting here eating lunch and the sun is trying to come out. Yay! Be aware that all the chairs on the deck are quite wet - bring something to sit on. We still could get rain or storms this afternoon so be prepared.

Interesting day coming up. It's cool - in the 60's, but the water temp is 88. We probably will get some rain which we will try and swim through. Be alert for thunder and lightning - we may have to abandon the pool suddenly. If that happens, I will come in and update this blog.

Yesterday morning turned out to be rather chilly for lessons - today promises to be wonderful. Get the sunscreen out!

66 for a temp, clouds, might see a few sprinkles but water is 88 so we are good to go!

Monday

Beginning of session 4 - a few clouds right now but the forecast is for sunny and warm. We have a couple issues for today , however - my pump quit working yesterday so the water temp is lower than I like for lessons - we're at 85 degrees. Thank goodness for Doug Grandahl from Pool and Spa Boy. He says he will have a replacement by the end of today. The second issue is retaining wall work that begins today. You will have to use the gate on the north side of the house. Swimmers for this session are - Sam for his second session, Kylie, Darcy, Thomas, Molly, Andrew, Izzy for her second session, Spencer, Colby, Gabe, Jenna, Jason, Ava, Liam, Sebastion, and Boden.

Friday

We made it through another session without a mishap! This week the order of day was sunny and hot - a very good week to be in the pool. Congratulations to all you swimmers - you worked very hard. I'll be taking the next week off to visit with my sister from Illinois and my brother from Kentucky. Both arrive this weekend with their families.

The start of session 3. Chance of storms this morning according to the forecast but if we can get through today, sounds like the rest of the week should be smooth sailing. Of course last week the forecast was for rain everyday but we made it through. Always hope for the best. This week we welcome Henry for his second session, Teagan, Stone, Lucy, Edith, Hayden, Clayton, Rhett, Morgyn, and Coltyn.

Whew! We made it. Last day of session 2 and finally the sun is shining. Wind, cold and rain was he story of the week but we didn't miss a lesson and every single swimmer kept on working hard. Some of you return again for another session - it has to be better then. Thanks to all of you for your hard work this week - that makes it easier for us.

Wow, what an afternoon we had yesterday! It just poured during Jake's and Izzy's lesson. Suzy and I agreed we have never been in the water during such a hard rain before. Kudos to the swimmers for continuing to work so hard. Today is going to be very chilly! 54 degrees right now. Rain seems to have moved out for the time being but prepare for the cool temp. Water is 88 again.

Wednesday

What a day we had yesterday - lots of wind and a little rain. Thankfully the severe stuff went around us. Looks like a similar day is shaping up. I'll be heading out now to clean up the debris from yesterday . Let's hope we again don't get hit with anything severe.

Well it turned out surprisingly nice this morning. Hopefully our luck holds and we can make it through 3:00.

Tuesday

Over an inch of rain last night - enough already! I'll be heading out in a little while to open things up. So if it drizzles, we'll continue with lessons. If severe weather pops up though, we'll be hustling out. Water is warm - 88 - cool and windy on the deck though. Prepare accordingly.

Monday

First day of session 2 - not the best forecast for today and tomorrow. Hopefully the severe weather holds off till late afternoon and end by tomorrow morning. This week is a semi-private week so Suzy will be working with me. We welcome Leah, Sam, Greta, Olivia, Sophia, Jett, Jersey, Luke, Isaac, Annika, Nathan, Lydia, Jonathan, Mary, Izzy, Jake, Lauren, and Josh - Whew! Lots of swimmers.

Friday

Last day of the first session. I'm so proud of this first group. They worked very hard even though we didn't have ideal conditions. Charlie had to swim through a downpour, Edie twice had to hustle out because of thunder and everyone had to swim through all the birch seeds hoping they didn't eat any. Today's forecast is calling for thunderstorms this afternoon. Hopefully, Edie, it will be after your lesson. It was also nice to see former students return with siblings - Daniel, Ruth, Addie, Dan, Tom, and Jack. Glad to see you still enjoy the water!

Wednesday afternoon

We made it through the morning lessons with a brief shower around 11:15. Saw blue sky for awhile after that but didn't last long. Afternoon sessions will continue but parents beware the chairs are now wet.

Wednesday

An inch and 7/10s of water added to the pool last night. Rain has stopped for now so will be heading out in a few minutes to open it up. Hopefully we'll get through all the lessons today. Parents come prepared - it is definitely much warmer in the water than on the deck.

The sun is shining again - looks like today will be similar to yesterday - partly sunny and "windy". Hopefully the birch tree next door has finally run out of seeds!
