Another cool start to a beautiful day. Treading tests today

Monday - Session 9

Last session for 2014. Starting out cloudy and cool. I have 2 swimmers in Eels working toward the wall of fame - Rhett and Hayden. 2 crayfish - Braden and Coltyn. And 2 swimmers new to my school - Cully and Ahnika - welcome.

Friday

Last day of this session. We made it despite the cloudy water. Thanks to everyone for being so understanding. Should be a good day.

Thursday

Beautiful day coming up. Front crawl testing for dolphins.

Wednesday

The water is getting better. I can now make out the liner pattern on the bottom of the pool.  Looks like a sunnier day coming up. Treading test for those levels requiring it.

Tuesday

The pool is a "little" better. I can now see where the torpedo is on the bottom without stepping on it! Sun is supposed to come out. When I'm not sure.

Monday

First day of session 8. Don't be alarmed when you see my pool. You won't be able to see the bottom. I've been fighting the water all summer and was told last week at the pool store that my phosphate levels were extremely high. So I added phosphate remover on Saturday so I now have to wait for the remover to be removed. I've been assured however that the chemical levels are good so it is safe to swim. So - we have 2 new swimmers this week, Sam and Wyatt. Returning are Molly, Rhett, Lucy, Edie, Millie and Logan.

Sounds like it should be a great week for session 7. I have 2 advanced swimmers - Henry and Rodin - both already on my wall of fame. All the other swimmers are also returners - Eloise, Clara, Josh, Andrew, Michael, Brady, Grace and Caden.

Just the way I like the day to start! Almost an inch of much needed rain that ended before we start lessons. Probably a little cool this morning but the end of the day as well as the end of the session should end beautifully!

Tuesday

What a strange day. It was 81 degrees when I got up at 5:00. Now down to 79. Sun is trying to come out. Should be another great day for the pool.

Monday

Wow! What a difference in the weather for the start of session 6. In the 90's with heat indices in the 100's. What a great time to be in the water. I have 4 swimmers new to my school - welcome Nolan T. and Seth - also, Lauren and Mia are following their big brothers for their first lessons. Lucia is coming for advanced lessons along with sisters Darby, Lizzy, and Vivian. Also returning this week for further lessons are Grady, Claire, Jake, Nolan F., Addie, Luke, Olivia, Sophia, Greta, Sam, John, and Joe.

The sun is supposed to be strong today. A little slow coming out though. We've had 21 hard working swimmers this week. Started with cold weather but should end warm. Thanks to Cameron and Daniel for their excellent help while Tom was unavailable.

We made it through a very chilly Monday. Still cool this morning but forecast is certainly looking up.

Monday

Going to be a chilly start to session 5. The water is warm tho. Have something warm to put on when you climb out. This is a semi-private week so there will be lots of swimmers jumping in the pool. Congratulations to Gabe for passing Eels last week and making the Wall of  Fame. He also returns this week for some advanced work. Henry will also be doing advanced work. Other swimmers this week are Eloise, Sebastian, Boden, AJ, Ashley, Ethan, Olivia, Lucy, Millie, Edie, Ben, Jonathan, Mary, Grady, Claire, Greta, Gavin, Eli, and Liam.  I'll be working with 3 different helpers this week, Cameron, Daniel and Tom. All are graduates of my program.

Wednesday

Yesterday was very unusual. I had a cortisone shot in a joint near my spine. It was an early appt so thought lessons wouldn't be a problem. Found out after the injection that I couldn't be in the pool for 24 hours. The injection left an open portal for infection to enter my spinal area. So I scrambled to find help for in the water and I instructed from the deck. Took me back to the old days when I instructed for Red Cross with 10-20 kids in a class. All instruction was from the deck. I really wonder how any of us learned to swim! All is back to normal!
Also, I am still receiving requests for lessons this summer. I am full but if I get an address, I can add that to my mailing list. I will send schedules out end of February but I usually fill up in 2-3 weeks.

Monday

A beautiful sunny start to session 4. All swimmers are returners to my school. Sam and Eli will be doing advanced work since they are on my Wall of Fame. Other swimmers this week are Gabe in Eels, Ben in Bluegills, Ella in Dolphins, Jackson in Crayfish, another Ben in Watertots, Sebastian in Eels, Boden in Dolphins, and Elizabeth in Crayfish. See you in the pool!

My fingers are crossed that we can get all lessons in today. Things look spotty so hoping for the best. Check back if weather doesn't look good.

Doesn't look like any weather problems today. I'm a little worried about tomorrow. If things are not good tomorrow, could you let me know if Monday would work as a back up. I don't have lessons next week and my company doesn't begin arriving till late afternoon on Monday. Front crawl testing for those levels requiring it.

No rain yesterday - everything stayed north. Clouds and cool this morning but pool is a warm 90 degrees! Treading test today for those levels requiring it.

Looks like a beautiful day for the start of session 3. Congratulations Kylie and Sam for passing Eels last week and now members of the Wall of Fame. We have one new swimmer to my program this week - welcome Henry V. There are 4 swimmers working on advanced skills this week, Henry D. , Kylie, Joey and Lauren. Other swimmers this week are Owen, Eloise, Lindsey, Elizabeth, and Grace.

Well at least the sun is trying to come out. Swimmers, be ready to work hard. We have to try and make up for missing yesterday. You can do it!

It is going to be a soggy start for sure. If no more thunder we will continue to swim. I am not uncovering my furniture but there are 2 chairs you can wipe off if wet. Fingers crossed, I'm heading out!

Sorry I missed posting yesterday. The pool was such a mess from the Monday night storms I had to start cleaning at 7:00. Cloudy start today but hopefully we can get lessons in this morning. Treading water test for the levels requiring it.

Monday

Session 2 begins today - nice sunny start. Forecast is for unsettled weather so be sure and check here if in doubt. Again, unless there is thunder, we will probably be swimming. Swimmers this week are Sam, Eli, Kylie, Ella, Jackson and for the first time little brother Ben. He's watched lessons for 2 years so I'm betting he'll do well!  Congratulations to Rodin and Lucia for passing Eels and making the Wall of Fame. I have company this week so am only teaching in the morning. I have 2 special students in the afternoon, my nephews Carter and Evan.

Last day of session one. Going to start out cool but the sun is out!  Had a great group of swimmers this first week!

Wednesday

This is a new toy that can be used during free swim time.  Here are Gavin and Greta trying to unseat one another.

Despite the clouds and chilly temps yesterday, we made it through the first day of lessons.  Today looks to be much better weather wise. Sunscreen!

I've been teaching swimming in my pool for about 14 years and I believe this is the first time that the first morning of session is in jeopardy because of rain. Hopefully it will slide by. Check back here before heading out. Swimmers for session one are Jake, Addie, Nolan, Rodin, Clara, Josh, Logan, Rachel, Samantha, Ben, Anna coming for a little advanced work since she is already on my Wall of Fame, Lucia, Darby, Lizzy, Vivian, Greta, Gavin, Mia, and coming for the first time Etta.

Summer 2014

My schedule is completely full for this summer. Scheduling for 2015 will begin next march.

Up date

Less than a week since I mailed out the 2014 schedules and I am nearly full. Sessions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 are full. Session 5 for semi private lessons has the following times open - 1:00, 1:30 and 2:30. Session 6 at 9:00. Sessions 8 and 9 are private lessons. I have 9:00,9:30 or 10:00 session 8. Session 9 I have 9:30,10:00,10:30,11:00 or 11:30
